 Meet Sherri Ramsey

About Sherri

Her disturbing, and sometimes triggering art is displayed, in full view on hand-dyed, or re-purposed fabrics (sometimes) and high-end fabrics (other times). Expressing her sorrow, that she explains as being, “stuffed down into her throat, through her esophagus, and resting gently somewhere in her belly,” has been challenging.  Inspired by artist Heidi Parkes, Sherri attended her first workshop with Heidi in 2022 in Santa Fe, NM, where she fell in love with Heidi’s Travel Diary Quilt and discovered the freedom of expressing her complex feelings in her quilts.  Her quilt “You Are (still) Here” was accepted into the Innovative Category in 2023 at the 34th Annual Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival in Hampton, Virginia.

Sherri worked as an Executive Assistant in the corporate world for over 30 years before becoming a professional longarm quilter and artist. She integrates her hand and machine quilting skills to stitch through fabrics and old textiles, that often reflect her love of true crime, and the aesthetics of her 1970’s childhood. Sherri’s art is often set in a “series” of works, and finished in a quilt-type application, with her favorite pieces being professionally mounted and framed. She resides in Mead, Colorado.

If you would like to see Sherri's more traditional quilt work you can visit her at  Spirit Quilter
