Red is symbolic of the blood that runs through us. The blood that is lost during menstruation, injuries, and illnesses. The blood that is infused to heal and save us. Red is symbolic of the wounds that are not visible, but are felt deep inside our souls when we experience trauma and loss. When I was four years old, I lost my baby sister. When I was 26, I lost my son. When I was 39, I lost my mom.

This quilt expresses being born, experiencing menstruation, giving birth, menopause, and loss.

**DISCLAIMER**

This piece does not contain blood, but is created intuitively by the artist using fabric, thread, natural

dyes and ink.
