Sherri Ramsey Gallery

My art is inspired by my life experiences. A friend introduced me to hand quilting in 2000.  22 years later, I would find inspiration through Heidi Parkes’ travel diary quilts. In 2024, I completed Heidi’s yearlong quilt making class, and began creating my own work in a series.  My style is rebellious and detailed, and tells a story through fabric manipulation and quilting as well as the use of dyes and inks.  Through small quilts displayed in a series, my crime scene series was born in Exhibit #17.

Santa Fe 2022

In 2022, I had the honor of attending an in-person quilting class in Santa Fe, NM, and met Heidi Parkes for the first time. Her Travel Diary quilt sounded exciting and different from any quilt I had made

previously (mostly traditional quilts that I found boring and not my thing). This class was a game changer for me, and this is the quilt that presented itself to me through prompts, intuition, and yes, some

magical stars that aligned just right.

Inspired by Heidi Parkes, fellow classmates, my intuition, my ancestors, Georgia O’Keefe, Chris Roberts-

Antieau, the amazing town of Santa Fe, and the bittersweetness of traveling.
